Biography
Emre Berk is an international legal advisor and a Turkish qualified lawyer, who is advising clients with over 20 years of professional experience. He is well known for his vast expertise in digital industries, IT, Fintech, payment services, data protection & privacy matters, cyber security, fraud cases, AI governance, information & communication technologies and for major e-commerce projects.
Emre advises numerous local and international companies from various sectors in their digital transition and transformation processes.
He’s been involved and is still involving in the legislative processes of Data Protection, E-Commerce, Crypto Assets, Telecoms and Consumer laws in EU & Türkiye. He is an active member of related NGOs and governmental bodies’ working groups. He provides governmental affairs and public policy services to some of his clients as well.
After working in various top tier law firms in Istanbul for 7 years, Emre studied and worked in London for 7 years as well. He lectures to legal professionals and lawyers from all around the world on digitalization in legal context. He is currently based in London, hence traveling frequently to Türkiye and other EMEA countries for his clients.

Emre specialises in TMT, AI & data governance and commercial law, advising on a wide range of matters for clients in the; e-commerce, digital, FinTech, cosmetics, food &drugs and AI industries.
Data Protection Law: Emre has extensive experience in data governance projects; from multinational moguls to start-ups. He lead countless cross-border data transfer and processing projects for clients in various industries. He also acts as DPO and provides on-going consultancy on data management.
Fintech Law: He provides comprehensive legal advice in digital banking regulations, financial services compliance and complex cross-border digital asset transactions. His expertise extends to advising financial institutions on regulatory requirements, EMI-PSP-Crypto licensing and especially global expansion projects in the emerging markets; especially in whole African continent and in the full Gulf region.
E-Commerce: Emre was one of the founding members of world’s one of the biggest on-line platform projects and headed the legal & compliance department for 4 years. He then provided consultancy services to world’s biggest e-commerce platform in their expansion projects within Turkey and EU. He is still advising most of the tech giants in the industry for their regulatory compliance matters, new micro-site development and peripherals.
Commercial & Corporate Law: He advises on cross-border transactions and drafts/reviews; sales, franchise, distribution, joint venture and partnership contracts. Emre also works on complex shareholder matters and delicate company formation structures.
Fraud & Financial Crime: Emre worked with and for fraud prevention companies; in developing regulatory compliance projects in e-commerce and fintech sectors. He also lead financial crime investigations for the banking, finance, IT and FMCG sector clients.
Government Relations: He participated legislation working groups and managed his clients’ relations with the related ministries and/or with the relevant governmental body. He also represent clients before the administrative tribunals and official investigations.
AI & Digital Industries: Emre is working with the digital industries for more than 15 years and represents clients in investment & expansion projects globally. He gives trainings on AI literacy and takes part in AI governance projects in various jurisdictions.
